2007 New England National Championship Qualifier
May12, 2007
Team Blue Wave went to Springfield, Massachussetts to compete in the 2007 New England National Championship Qualifier. Kimberly changed her strategy for her Poomse competition and did Koryo, the first Black Belt Form. This turned out to be a good move, since it earned her a Gold Medal. She has now the option to participate in the National AAU Taekwondo Championships in Florida this summer.
In her sparring competition she faced her good friend but also most feared competitor Haley. The girls did a great job, of course Haley won the match 1-8, ending the fight in the first round following the 7 point gap rule. Haley took Gold, Kimberly took Silver.

And they are still friends....

Congratulations to all of Blue Wave Competitors!!!

Team Blue Wave....
Kimberly went to Marlborough, Massachussetts to compete in the "Ringmaster Open" Tournament. For her Poomse (Forms) competition she did "Tae Guk Pal Jang" and won a silver medal. Her first fight in sparring was a good one. The match was tied at the end of the second round. Her opponent came out strong and ran right into Kimberly's front leg side kick, knocking her to the ground and the match was instantly over. Gold for Ms. Buckholts!!!

Kimberly had a much tougher time in her second match. She competed in a higher division in an exhibition match and lost against an 11 year old girl. Another silver medal was hers to take home. Congratulations!!
